32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time (Year: B)
Date: Sunday, November 10th, 2024, 11:00
Old Testament: Ruth 3:1-5; 4:13-17
Psalms: Ps. 127
1One day Naomi her mother-in-law said to her, "My daughter, should I not try to find a home for you, where you will be well provided for?
2Is not Boaz, with whose servant girls you have been, a kinsman of ours? Tonight he will be winnowing barley on the threshing floor.
3Wash and perfume yourself, and put on your best clothes. Then go down to the threshing floor, but don't let him know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking.
4When he lies down, note the place where he is lying. Then go and uncover his feet and lie down. He will tell you what to do."
5"I will do whatever you say," Ruth answered.
Ruth 3:1-5; 4:13-17 (NIV)
Epistle: Heb. 9:24-28
1Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain.
2In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat- for he grants sleep to those he loves.
3Sons are a heritage from the LORD, children a reward from him.
4Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are sons born in one's youth.
5Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their enemies in the gate.
Psalms 127 (NIV)
Gospel: Mark 12:38-44
24For Christ did not enter a man-made sanctuary that was only a copy of the true one; he entered heaven itself, now to appear for us in God's presence.
25Nor did he enter heaven to offer himself again and again, the way the high priest enters the Most Holy Place every year with blood that is not his own.
26Then Christ would have had to suffer many times since the creation of the world. But now he has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself.
27Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
28so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many people; and he will appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring salvation to those who are waiting for him.
Hebrews 9:24-28 (NIV)
38As he taught, Jesus said, "Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the marketplaces,
39and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
40They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
41Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
42But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
43Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
44They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything--all she had to live on."
Mark 12:38-44 (NIV)
